The doctor has told me I can no longer stay in my home and that I need a nursing home. What do I have to do to be admitted?
You or a representative should make an appointment with our Admission Director, Cookie Travis, to evaluate your individual needs. If you can not come to the facility she can visit you in your home or in the hospital to begin the admission process.

I need to be admitted to a nursing home from the hospital. Will Medicare pay for my nursing home stay?
After a minimum three-day hospital stay you may qualify for nursing home coverage. When specific medical criteria is met Medicare will pay 100% for the first twenty days. If you continue to meet Medicare requirements, up to another 80 days will be paid by Medicare. A daily co-insurance charge of $129.00 may be picked up by your secondary insurance. Each secondary insurance policy differs so it is important for you to call your insurance company and check on your individual coverage. Most patients being discharged from a hospital to a nursing home will be covered for some Medicare coverage. Bring in your insurance information so we can help you determine the additional coverage you may be eligible for.

I am coming only for a short stay for rehabilitation. What will happen when I am discharged home?
We encourage residents and family to work closely with our social workers from the day of admission to facilitate the transition from nursing home to your home or a lower level or care. We can also provide follow-up care with our home care program, if needed.

What kind of people will be caring for me while I am in the nursing home?
All our staff has had proper training to care for you. There will be registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nurse's aides, and licensed therapists in speech, physical and occupational therapy. Also, a registered dietitian and activity director will contribute to your overall well being. In addition, all of our employees attend a special training program to increase their awareness of the needs of the families and residents. In addition to this level of professionalism our staff has a reputation of being friendly and caring to the residents and family.

What kind of room will I have and what will my roommate be like?
We have both private and semi-private rooms available. We make every effort to match compatible personalities in our semi-private rooms.

What do I need to bring to the nursing home?
You will need enough clothing for seven days. All clothing needs to be marked with your name using a laundry pen or permanent marker. Toiletries and other personal comfort items should be brought with you. If you want a TV or telephone, you will need to bring these items from home. Sometimes family pictures, wall decorations, and a favorite chair are brought in by our residents. We have a beauty parlor and beautician on our premises.

I hear the words Medicare and Medicaid but I do not understand the difference. Can you explain this to me?
Medicare is a federally funded insurance program that pays for some health services for people over 65. Medicaid is a state and federally funded welfare program designed as a supplement when an individual's private resources have been exhausted.
